New customers who haven't ordered plastic bags from the factory before tend to ask the same questions over and over — things like "How do I describe the spec so the factory understands exactly what I mean?" or "What do I need to prepare for a first order?" This article rounds up all 8 steps our GPS team actually uses to take orders every single day, covering everything from choosing the bag type through to the information needed for a quotation. Read it once, and you can place your order right away — no need to call and ask the same questions over and over.

Step 1: Choose the "Bag Type" First
Tell our team the shape you want first — then we'll help you choose the material, size, and thickness.
Handle Bag — Has handles with side gussets. Strong load capacity. Thickness measured "×4" (four layers)
Flat-Cut Bag — Straight open top, sealed bottom. General purpose use. Thickness measured "×2" (two layers)
Plastic Roll — Film on a roll — cut it to size yourself as needed. Order by weight or width

Step 2: Choose the "Material"
Materials differ in feel and use — get this right before anything else.
HD (crisp texture) — Crisp with a light rustling sound. Thin yet strong, holds weight well, tear-resistant. Best for handle bags, grocery bags, and dry goods (not for cold storage)
PE (soft texture) — Soft, stretchy, glossy and clear. Stretches without any rustling sound. Best for liquids, freezing, or jobs needing clarity
PP (hot-fill bag) — Clear, rigid, and glossy. Heat resistant. Can hold hot food or hot items

Step 3: Choose the "Size" — Made from 5"–150"
Minimum order quantity (MOQ) depends on the size you choose:
Small sizes 5"–10" — MOQ 300 kg and up
Large sizes 10" — MOQ 150 kg and up

Step 4: Tell Us the "Intended Use"
Heavy items? Need freezing? Just a dust cover? Let our team know — we'll help you pick the material and thickness that gives you the best price and the right quality for the job.

Step 5: Get the "Thickness" Measurement Right
Bags with side gussets (like handle bags) are measured at a different point than flat-cut bags — so the thickness reading differs. Make sure you measure the right spot.
Handle bag (has side gussets) — measured at the side, at the gusset fold. Thickness ×4 = 4 layers
Flat-cut bag — measured at the center, all the way through. Thickness ×2 = 2 layers
Measuring a single sheet only (per side) — Thickness ×1 = 1 layer

Step 6: Choose the "Resin Grade"
The lower the grade, the lower the price. Choose based on your budget and the job at hand.
Food Grade (FOOD) — New pellets. The clearest, cleanest, food-safe option
A1 Recycled — Still fairly clear. Secondary grade, not for food contact, lower cost
AB Recycled — Starting to turn hazy. More economical than A1
Grade B — Quite hazy. General-purpose use, budget price
HD C Colored — Color pigment added (red/green/blue) for trash bags
Grade C — Tea-tinted clear. The most economical option
Solid Black Trash Bag (recycled) — Cheapest option in the lineup
How is this different : We have a complete guide here :
A note on made-to-order production: Customers accept all production scrap, and the actual delivered quantity may run ±10% over or under the order — this is standard practice for made-to-order production.

Step 7: Choose the "Packing Style"
Our team hand-packs every single bag, and weighs every order for real before it ships.
Handle bags — packed at half a kilogram (½ kg) or 1 kg per pack other than this, we wont include
Black trash bags — packed at 1 kg per pack, wrapped in a free colored poly sleeve
Tied / folded style — bundled at 1 kg per bundle, then packed into sacks at 25–30 kg per sack

Step 8: Prepare Information for a Quotation
So our team can prepare your quotation as fast as possible, have the following ready in advance:
Company name and address (for issuing the tax invoice)
Tax ID number
Delivery address (if different from the company address)
Phone number and email for follow-up

FAQ
What information do I need to provide for my first order? Tell us the bag type, material, size, intended use, and thickness you need. Our team will help recommend the right resin grade and packing style for you.
What's the minimum order quantity? It depends on the size you choose. Small sizes 5"–10" require a minimum of 300 kg; larger sizes require a minimum of 150 kg.
Does the actual production quantity have to match the order exactly? For made-to-order production, the actual quantity may run ±10% over or under the order — this is standard practice for production work.
How do I choose a resin grade that's cost-effective? The lower the grade, the lower the price — but choose based on what fits the job. For food-contact work, choose food grade or A1; for general work, choose grade B or C to save on cost.
What do I need to prepare before requesting a quotation? Prepare your company name and address, tax ID number, delivery address, and contact number, so our team can issue your quotation as fast as possible.
